Basically what you’re doing is making a tea with a carrier oil, instead of water. A tea that has to infuse for a couple weeks, but still, its pretty much the same thing. A carrier oil can be any oil from your basic olive oil or if you want to get a little fancier with coconut or almond oil. Almost every oil is going to be very high in vitamins and minerals. And they are all going to have emollient properties, which means they moisturize and soften the skin. But there are going to be a few differences that makes each oil a little special:
2. Cover your jar and set it in a cool dark place for at least two weeks. Continue to check it every few days to make sure that the herbs are still covered and top it off with oil if needed. Always remember to label your jar with the name of the herb and the date it was made. This will help you remember when its time to strain and use. After at least 2 weeks strain the oil and store in a airtight container. I used old lotion bottles that have a pump in them. Be sure there is no moisture left in the pump, or the jar to prevent spoiling.
I used this Cat Nip, Rosemary, Lavender Massage Oil Blend today and it is absolutly heavenly.
