.Spring is FINALLY in the air and I think a lot of us have slowly been waking up along with all of the plants. Looking around everything looks green and alive and it always makes me think of aromatherapy. To me, Aromatherapy is to your nose what Spring is for the eyes. Its awakening, refreshing, and rejuvenating. This year instead of creating an essential oil blend for Wonderland Mobile Massage's Spring Aromatherapy Special, I've decided to allow people to create their own blend according to their needs or scents that they are attracted to. The following is a list of the essential oils that I carry along with some of the benefits, properties, and elemental associations of each.
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) has a mild floral aroma that zings with the bite of citrus. Like most citrus oils it is uplifting and refreshing, easing anxiety and depression. It also boosts the immunes system and soothes skin irritations. Bergamot is associated with physical and magical energy and can be used to draw in prosperous energy. It's planet is Mercury and element is AIR. Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) has a strong earthy scent that is instantly grounding upon inhalation. It helps to reduce stress and nervous tension. Like most oils it aids the respiratory system. One of the reasons I started working with cedarwood is for arthritis and rheumatism conditions. it is great for clearing the energy of a room and allows you to connect to spirituality. Its grounding properties can help with self-control issues. Its planet is the Sun and element is FIRE. *CONTRAINDICATED DURING PREGNANCY* Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) has an airly refreshing aroma that helps reduce stress, nervous tension, and depression. You can really feel it in your lungs and can be used to help with asthma, cough, and throat conditions. Topically it helps relieve muscle cramping as well as smooth muscle/menstrual cramping. Its planet is Mercury and is associated with the AIR element. Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) smells like you walked into an forest thick with woody pines and evergreens. It's wonderful for most respiratory conditions. Topical uses include muscle cramping, edema, poor circulation, and rheumatism. This is another one that reduces stress and nervous tension. Its associated with the planet Saturn and the Earth element. Cinnamon is an oil to use very sparingly and to never ever ever put directly on the skin. It is wonderful to add a nice warming effect to any blend. Its planet is the Sun and element is FIRE!! Lavender (Lavendula officinalis) is so wonderfully floral and calming. An oil most people are familiar with as a sleep aid and for stress reduction. It is also great for any skin irritation such as rashes or bug bites. Its planet is Mercury and element is AIR. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a very versatile oil great for skin conditions, muscle pain and circulation as well as stress related conditions. It helps with nervous exhaustion as well as headaches. It is anti-microbial so it can be used for bacterial skin conditions such as athletes foot or infections. Lemongrass increases circulation and is also a tissue toner. Its planet is Mercury and element is AIR. Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) is a holy oil great for meditation and connecting you to your spirituality or awken to a higher conciousness. It is a wound healer, reduces stress, and eases anxiety. It is very awakening, a little spicy and refreshing. its planet is the Sun and element is AIR. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officianalis) is one of my favoirtes and another very versitile oil. Wonderful for almost any skin condition, circulation, muscle pain, respiratory conditions, nervous exhaustion, and headaches. It is also great to help with memory and longevity. Its planet is the Sun and element is FIRE. Peppermint is another great oil added to any blend for its cooling and pain relieving properties. It is another refreshing AIR element oil and is associated with the planet Mercury. I've also have a handful of new oil samples to try out this year and am open to any requests or to use your own oils if you have them.
