After driving from Maine to North Carolina straight through, only stopping for gas with 3 cats and 2 adults, my car is now a little funky. I hate the way those store bought air fresheners smell so I thought I’d make my own. For this simple project you will need:
For the scent I have chosen Cypress and Clary Sage. These were the most “piney” smelling but also have wonderful stress relieving properties. For the car you want to pick essential oils that are going to be calming, but not sedative. Citrus oils would also be great because they are uplifting and refreshing.
Cypress Essential Oil clears breathing, eases tense muscles, reduces nervous tension and stress conditions. Which is perfect for stressful driving conditions. Cypress has a long list of other benefits like: supports localized blood flow, decreases perspiration, is an insect repellent, is used to ease asthma, bronchitis and cough AND is great for relieving menstrual cramps and menopause symptoms. Clary Sage Essential Oil is uplifting, relieves nervous tension, migraines and stress disorders. Clary Sage also soothes menstrual cycles, cramps, and labor pain; is good for your skin and hair; reduces high blood pressure, eases muscle aches and pain; is good for throat infections, cough and asthma; and calms digestive upset. *essential oils are highly concentrated and should always be diluted with a carrier oil before using on skin.* Allow 5 drops of each to soak into the felt and hang in your car mirror to enjoy a fresh, uplifting, and stress reducing scent.
