I love that the New Moon is falling on New Years Day this year. It is always great to start or plan new things on a new moon. Like planting, cleansing, cleaning, new job, new diet, new routine, etc making it the perfect time for a resolution. I love even more that the new moon is falling on New Years because that means even more people will be celebrating the New Moon, whether they know it or not. Capricorn is the sign of the “sea goat”, a goat with the tail of a fish. The hooves of the goat represent earth energy while the tail represents water, which is sometimes associated with dreams. I see this Moon in Capricorn as giving you the grounded-ness and footing to accomplish your dreams. So, go out there and accomplish those dreams and make those resolutions come true. You’ve got the moon on your side this year!
Again, I’m very open to what you’d like to see and/or what you didn’t like and never want to see again! This New Years Eve light a candle and write down your intentions for the year. Visualize these things happening to you, or visualize yourself doing what you intend to do. Save this piece of paper in an envelope, stick it in your journal, or tape it to the December 2014 page of your calendar. Don’t look at it until next year, and see if you’ve accomplished what you have intended! Blow out the candle while saying(thinking) “I extinguish the flame, but the light remains” allow this light to stay with you always and inspire you through out the year. (this can also be done every new moon, setting intentions for each month -which for me, setting short term goals is easier to accomplish then long term goals) image from: http://www.josephinewall.co.uk

I’m busy.
I work a lot and I’m an education junkie. When I do have free time, I usually use it to rest and recuperate from a long week and prepare for the next long week. Between work and school I rarely have time for anything else. I need things to be quick and easy, especially the things that I consider to be a necessity, like : food, hydration, and sleep. But just because something is quick and easy doesn’t mean it has to be filled with preservatives, microwavable, or unhealthy. I am also very self indulgent. I like to relax and take long naps, soak in the bath tub, and eat chocolate and drink wine even if there are chores to be done or errands to run. I’m a massage therapist and I believe that it is extremely important for everyone to take time out for themselves. Throughout my herbal and massage therapist training I have learned a lot about the connection of mind, body, and spirit and how essential it is to balance. I feel as a culture we have forgotten to take care of ourselves, and simply do not have time to do so. I am interested in taking ideas from the past and reintroducing them to today. This blog is documentation of my journey and experiments of bringing traditional healing to our modern fast-paced lives as lazily as possible.
