I've gotten into the habit of just grabbing random stones to make crystal grids instead of planning out or researching what stones to use for a specific purpose. This way I'm using my intuition and it makes it more magical when it turns out the grid is just what I needed. I also like to meditate and connect to a crystal and see what energy or thoughts come to mind, before I do any research on the stone's properties. I've had a bunch of black onyx stones for while now and haven't had the chance to work with them yet. I have this problem with randomly and impulsively buying stones just because I find a good deal or they are on sale. The same goes for herbs and craft supplies (ex: pink sparkly scrap book paper) #badhabbits While holding a large piece of black tourmaline in each hand, closing my eyes, I take some deep breaths and start to relax. It helps to if you make fists with your hands and then open them half a dozen times to get the energy flowing and blood circulating. Then I try to focus on the stone. I think about the color, the texture, and how it feels energetically. I let any thoughts and feelings come to me about the stone. I also try to notice if the stone is drawn to any parts of my body.
With Black Onyx I immediately thought that I needed it for my massage business. This made me wonder if it was beneficial to muscles or bones. I got the feeling of structure and groundedness. The black color made me think of grief. I got the urge to use as a protective stone to wear for doing massages and then would take off after wards. Doing research on black onyx later I read that it is a powerful protection stone. It absorbs and transforms negative energy which is storied to give it it's black color. It gives you emotional and physical stamina to help motivate or encourage growth and movement. On the same level it helps with stress or confusion relating to procrastination and helps with self discipline. It helps to heal old wounds such as trauma and grief as well as relief from past life issues. Black onyx is also a zodiac stone for Leos. It is so funny how things come into your life just as you need them. I AM a Leo and can make good use of this stone. As a massage therapist I sometimes struggle with working so closely with my clients and protecting myself from any negative energy released during body work, but also protecting my clients from my energy, or anything that maybe going on in my life. For example I am constantly on the up and down roller coaster dealing with grief, and really hope that black onyx will help me let go of some of that. Thanks Universe! Coming soon will be information on the other stones in the crystal grid pictured above: amethyst and girasol opal!
